"Ameer has a great deal of passion. It shows in his unusual production
design, quirky characters and skillful cuts...Making films is a difficult and tedious process. Ameer gave it a shot and definently has a great filmmaker in him."
David Jay Lasky
"...There is energy and astute observation here."
Sorry guys, "Strippers" is no "Showgirls"...that is, an eye-popping spectacle of barely clad hussies gyrating about a stage. No, writer-producer-director-co-star Jorge Ameer means "Strippers" in the euphemistic sense...Ameer raises some intriguing, possibly Hollywood - aimed questions about the importance of money vs. integrity as his protagonist's scenario unfolds."
STRIPPERS- THE MOTION PICTURE
It's been said that in today's society anything goes when it come to matters of business and affair of the heart. If there was any doubt as to the veracity of that cliche, the film "Strippers" proves once again that some people will do anything for money and power!
From Sexual harrassment in the workplace to one man's psychological edge of inner madness, "Strippers" explores the psyches of an array of comic characters who are intent upon taking all the can get, any way they can get it-without remorse. The word "Strippers" evokes powerful images of sex, fantasy, and power. In this dark drama, the strippers don't take it all off-they take it all! These strippers are the men and women who work in lavish corporate offices, wear expensive power suits and will do anything to get to the top, even if it means a few casualties along the way. These are the strippers who will relieve you of your assets, your emotions and your life. Based on acutal events, writer/producer/director Jorge Ameer gives us one of the funniest, darkest and most tragic motion picture about success, material possessions and greed ever to hit the screen.
Strippers is truly a 21st century study in human emotions, a wild roller coaster ride with steep, gut wrenching psychologial drops that will take your breath away, and leave you feeling exhilarated and perhaps a bit unnerved. Ameer describest the film as a cross between "The Secret of My Success", "The Game","Living in Oblivion","Happiness" with a few twists and turns added to keep the viewer off guard and in suspense. "The feel of the film is very neurotic", says Ameer who directs the film and also portrays one of the characters.
GRIM FINANCIALS EXPERIENCES REVEAL THE DARKER SIDE OF HUMAN NATURE
STRIPPERS - What does sexually inspired cosmetics, a two-timing fiance and dead beat brother have in common with a nymphomaniac employer and a banker who rips custormers off with a smile? They are all part of a new twisted dark tragic comedy from writer/director/producer/actor Jorge Ameer. In a comedic style like "American Pie" and "There's something about Mary" comes this relentless satire about an out of work ad executive who is stripped by the system and the people who surround him. Alan Gardner (the film's protagonist) is the epitome of a man whose succeses drive his lifestyle. Gardner suddenly finds himself overwhelmed by debt, dead broke and unemployed-due to an embezzling business manager, a deadbeat brother and a high maintenance girlfriend. As his life spirals out of control, he becomes the victim of sexual harrassment in the workplace, a financial system that is indifferent to his plight, and physical violence that robs him of everything he has left, including his dignity. Ameer says his film redefines those labels we've grown accustomed to using. The ending is specially off putting, for it leaves the viewer wondering what if everything was all a bad dream?
When we are asleep, our mind wonders off to a place that sometimes seems so real. That happens specially when we dream of events that have not yet happened. Many of us have the gift of foreshadowing our own destiny more than others. We see ourselves in places and scenarios that in reality may be happening sometime later, thus feeling we have been in the space and situation before.. Strippers does exactly that. It takes Alan Gardner to a place where everything goes wrong until he wakes up. The people are real and in his daily life,, the situations are real but in our sleep the reality can shift to a point of no return until we wake up.
